Being in the heart of Dartmoor, there are several beaches in driving distance of Moorhayes. Here are some of our favourites:

Teignmouth

Roughly a 45min drive away, Teignmouth is the closest beach to Moorhayes.
Featuring a long stoney beach with a Victorian pier arcade, large playpark and crazy golf, there is plenty here to entertain the whole family. It is also dog-friendly.
If you fancy some good fish & chips, we recommend Finn McCools at the northern end of the beach.

The Lower Point carpark (TQ14 8BW) is usually the easiest to park in.

Exmouth

With it receiving substantial investment over the past few years, Exmouth beach is a great day out and is a 60min drive from Moorhayes.
The 2-mile long sandy beach offers plenty of space and the tides make it a popular for watersports such as kite surfing.
It also has a great entertainment area next to the park with street food and live music.

The Beach Gardens carpark (EX8 2AZ) is the closest to the playpark.

Bantham Beach.jpg

Bantham

Our favourite beach due to its soft sand, rock pools, and beautiful views of Burgh Island. Bantham beach is about a 60min drive from Moorhayes but is worth the journey.
A quieter and less ‘touristy’ beach compared to Teignmouth and Exmouth, Bantham has basic amenities but is the most relaxing and still great for families.

Parking at Bantham is easy, with a single large carpark
(TQ7 3AN).
