Our Favourite Walks
Hound Tor
The inspiration for Arthur Conan Doyle’s ‘The Hound of the Baskervilles’ , Hound Tor is just a 10 minute walk from Moorhayes. Be sure to walk round the tor and down the hill to the 13th century medieval village on the far side.
To get to Hound Tor, simply turn left out of Moorhayes and walk to the end of the lane. You will then see Hound Tor on your left.
Bowerman’s Nose
A subject of Dartmoor folklore, the legend of Bowerman’s Nose is that it is named after a hunter who was turned to stone over a thousand years ago. A good option if with young children due to less challenging terrain yet still offers fantastic views.
To get to Bowerman’s Nose, turn right out of Moorhayes and walk through the gate at the end of the road. Bowerman’s Nose can then be seen on your right.
Becky Falls
As well a beautiful woodland trail along the waterfall, Becky Falls Ancient Woodland Park also has a children’s zoo and craft activities making it an excellent walk for families.
Becky Falls is a lovely 40 minute walk across the moor, past Bowerman’s Nose (click here for the route).
